How our tools work
Each tool shows the inputs and assumptions behind its result. Some use live website signals, while others use your own figures and scenario assumptions. Here's what's behind each one.
Website Grader methodology
The grader fetches your live website and analyses the HTML, CSS and page structure across six categories: Design & Branding, Mobile Experience, SEO, Performance, Content, and Trust & Accessibility. Each category is scored 0–100 based on real signals, meta tags, heading structure, image alt text, script counts, responsive design indicators and more. The overall score is a weighted average. Scores of 70+ are good, 40–69 need improvement, and below 40 indicates significant issues. Most small business websites score between 40 and 60.
ROI Calculator methodology
The calculator uses your monthly visitors, visitor-to-enquiry rate, enquiry-to-customer rate and average customer value to estimate current revenue. You then enter the website investment and gross margin and choose your own conversion uplift assumptions. It compares current and scenario revenue, estimates additional gross profit, then calculates 12-month ROI and payback period from those inputs. The default uplift values are editable examples, not benchmarks, forecasts or promised redesign results.
Budget Planner methodology
The budget planner takes your annual revenue and growth goals, then recommends a total marketing budget as a percentage of revenue, typically 5–12% depending on growth targets and business stage. The budget is allocated across channels (SEO, PPC, social, content, email) using industry-standard distribution benchmarks. Early-stage businesses allocate more to paid acquisition; established businesses shift towards organic and retention. The planner factors in your business size, industry and whether you have an existing website.
