Security

Update your CMS, plugins and server software; apply security patches; run a malware scan; check your SSL certificate is valid; review user access and remove stale accounts.

Backups

Confirm daily automated backups are running and do a test restore at least quarterly. A backup you've never restored is an assumption, not a safeguard.

Performance and SEO

Check Core Web Vitals and page speed; fix broken links; review Search Console for new errors; submit fresh content; check rankings and traffic trends.

Content

Update outdated prices, dates and team details; refresh your best-performing pages; remove or redirect obsolete pages; publish at least one useful new piece.

Frequently asked questions

Can I maintain my website myself?

Yes for content updates if you have a CMS. Security patches, backups and performance are usually best left to a managed service, a single missed patch can compromise the whole site.

What does managed maintenance cost?

From around £49/month + VAT including updates, backups, monitoring and content changes. See our website maintenance service.
